K-3 Summer Program
May 14, 2021
Dear Aliquippa Elementary Families:
As we near the end of this school year, we want to thank you for all the adjustments you had to make as a caregiver of a school-aged child during this pandemic. With so many changes during this past school year, we know it hasn’t been easy. We also know the impact that the pandemic has had on our students has been great. Therefore, we have planned a FREE summer program to work with as many K-3
grade students as possible. This will be in-person, with our teachers, and with limited use of technology. We have planned a program which will help recover skills in both reading and mathematics while keeping the day fun and interactive. Students will receive breakfast and lunch while attending the program. Transportation will also be provided. (Please click "MORE+")
Is your child dealing with anger, anxiety, stress, or low self-esteem?
WPPC school-based program in Aliquippa School will be offering summer therapeutic groups and individual therapy options for students in grades 3rd thru 6th and grades 7th and 8th. If your child could benefit from these services, please call or email Vanessa to set up an intake: (Phone) 724- 857- 7500 EXT 4164 or 2578 (Email)
Aliquippa Farm to School Grant
PA Department of Agriculture (PDA) Secretary Russell Redding recently announced Aliquippa School District will receive a PDA Farm to School grant of close to $9000 to build a vegetable garden at the elementary school. The school district is one of 39 projects approved, in the state, to enhance access to healthy, local foods and increase agriculture awareness in schools. Click the link for more information.
What is the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program?
The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for qualifying low-income households. If your household is eligible, you can receive:
Up to a $50/month discount on your broadband service and associated equipment rentals
Up to a $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands
A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)
Only one monthly service discount and one device discount is allowed per household.
The FCC has announced that consumers can begin applying for and enrolling in the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program on May 12, 2021. The program will end when the fund runs out of money, or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the COVID-19 health emergency, whichever is sooner.
Click here for more information, to see if you qualify, and to apply.
Penn State Beaver Summer Camps
Penn State Beaver delivers summer youth camps that provide local school children with educationally sound programs to build STEAM competencies in fun and creative ways. These include a variety of camps that can help minimize summer regression through the exploration of robotics, chemistry, multimedia, science, sustainability, the mind, the arts, and sports education.
While some ongoing Covid 19 and University restrictions continue to exist, the campus is excited to announce that they will be able to safely offer face-to-face summer youth academic and athletic programs this summer! In past years, they have hosted over 500 area youth and can do so safely again this summer within the imposed guidelines. The attached flyer outlines this year’s programming in detail.
