ES Annual Story Walk

AES held their 12th annual Story Walk on Saturday, April 6th.  We had 100 children participate with their families.  The children rotated through stations hosted by AES staff and a few “Community Heroes”.  Some of the stations included were;  smoothie shack, vehicle obstacle course, tattoo parlor, children’s marketplace and a magician.  The children made rice krispy treats, painted with nuts and bolts and created paper hugs to give to others.  We were happy to have the following “Community Heroes” participate this year; Dr. Spokane, B.F. Jones Library, Power Up, Nutrition, INC., AES PTA,  Kingdom Kidz and Equip Books.  All children left with a swag bag and a book to take home.  Once outside the students were treated to a Touch-a-Truck experience by Aliquippa Police Department, Aliquippa Fire Department, Yates Electric, INC., and EMS! Click here to see photos. This event was funded by the Beaver County Educational Trust!

Safe2Say Something

Upper elementary, middle, and high school students recently had an assembly from the Safe2Say Something program.  According to their website, "Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late. With Safe2Say Something, it’s easy and confidential to report safety concerns to help prevent violence and tragedies." Students can report an anonymous tip by calling 1-844-SAF2SAY, downloading the app, or by going to their website.
